So Many Bees, So Little Time!

Holy Canoli!! I have so much stuff on my plate!! I really feel as though I am up to the challenge.

First and foremost: We finally have approval with the City (AND with Historic Preservation) to start the demolition of the back of our house!! 3 years in the making! YES! So we will definitely be having some more home update posts around here!

That silly little red stamp almost never happened. Sheesh.

Still waiting on the arrival of our Mobile Mini to arrive - only a few hiccups with that which may or may not include a delivery where the wrong truck arrived with the unit facing the wrong direction. Needless to say, we will only be a week behind thanks to that delay.

I also ran the 2013 Tinkerbell Half Marathon in Anaheim at Disneyland. Oh. My. Word. I am not entirely sure that I can ever bring myself to participate in another non-female running event. I don't know, there is just something about Girl-Power-Yeah weekend races. I love being a girl. I love having female companionship. Here is just about the only picture that I took, however it is lovely and shows off this pretty little medal

Probably my favorite race medal to date. I love you, Tinkerbell.
Now to start off with all of the bee stuffs!

I still have my do Good Stitches quilt sitting around waiting to be quilted. Ugh. I would have it completed, except that my Viking broke and I needed to drop it off for FOUR WEEKS to get fixed. Luckily one of my PMQG pals Danny who blogs over at Mommy for Reals offered to let me use her fabulous brand spanking new Bernina. Wow. It was probably love at first sight. Wowsa. She also was kind enough to offer tons of creative direction as well as listen to me fuss about all sorts of girl things. For that, I thank her eternally. She truly is a doll. <3 <3 <3

Here is the progress:
Straight line quilting so far! Love it.
And one of Danny's pictures. Difficult to see, but it's straight-line quilting.
I finished up some 3x6 bee blocks as well as an angel block for a gal who has been in multiple bees with me. She is super sweet and deserved a gorgeous block, so I found something and paperpieced it in her awesome purple, gray, and black color scheme.

Pardon my dark and late-night photos, but no daytime sewing time lately!!
I am also in this round for 3x6 as well as 4x5. YIKES. I really, really need to find some block inspiration to get moving on these puppies so that I am not lost in last-minute-procrastination-stress-city. Does anyone have any neat ideas for fun bee blocks? Help? Anyone? Bueller??

I have also been busy in my Always Bee Learning group!! Toni who blogs over at Hoosier Toni asked for the group to make some super pretty Madrona Road Herringbone Blocks using Holly's tutorial over on Bijou Lovely. I was so frightened to make this block. I am not very good with angles and quilty-math... so I put it off until the very last day. Sorry Toni! I didn't want to muff up your gorgeous fabrics!

The feel of this fabric is so soft and smooth. Beautiful.
Our do Good Stitches group - Empower (aka Rad) has a brand new quilter amongst us! Her name is Caryn and she is a sweetheart and she blogs over at With Arms Open Wide. I have not yet checked her out, but she has a really good eye for colors, so go and give her a visit if you would like to feast on some beautiful color or design!

Caryn asked for beautiful pink, tangerine, lime, and yellow Scrappy Trip A Long blocks for her very first dGS quilt! I am super excited to see how she finishes the quilt up - no matter what she touches turns to gold, I'm really excited about this quilt.

Mmmm pretty and bright colors!
February is my month for Rad aka Empower to quilt and here is our group's inspiration:
Totally loving the pinks, grays, and golds here!
With black for the background.
Here is the quilt that we will be putting together as a group. I have not tried the blocks and I am hoping that they are pretty easy to go together and that no one hates me in the end! :)  Kelli challenged me on Instagram to use black for the background of our next dGS quilt SO here I am! Challenged accepted Kelli! I hope that it doesn't completely backfire on me. Yikes.

3 Things That Make Me Happy Today:

1.) The Disney Princess Half Marathon in Florida in just over 3 weeks! Like I said earlier, I am really into Girl-Power-Yeah weekend races right now. Looking forward to being surrounded by a bunch of girls with the same goal in mind: running a half marathon without injuring myself! YES! I just need to come up with something fun to wear. I also hope to Meet Kelli while at the race!

2.) I am woman, hear me roar. I am thankful that I can use my hands to do things myself. Yup, I replaced the glass in one of the back windows of our Project House. It really has been broken the entire time that we have had it! I removed the old glass, removed the old glazing, installed new points, new glazing, AND I didn't shatter the glass. YES! I win. :) It truly is the little things.

3.) I am thankful for my thoughtful Mom and Dad. They mailed hubster and me the sweetest Valentine's Day package. I loved everything! AND hubby even has his Reno Air Races picture up in his cubicle at work. Definitely love my parents. xoxo <3 <3 <3 <3 I don't have a picture of this, but it made me really, really happy so here's a picture from just over 3 years ago.

I love you guys more than anything. Ever. LIKE. EVER. xoxox

  1. I loved this post! You are rocking it all lately aren't you? I think the black d.Gs quilt is going to be really rad. I ordered some black yesterday. And I hope we can meet up too! When are you getting in for the race and when do you leave?
